How to turn a social media connection into a client

So your audience is on social media and you’re frequently posting on LinkedIn , Facebook or Instagram?

Best of all, you have an increasing number of social media followers.

But are these social media connections buying your services? What can you do to convert them into loyal paying clients?

If you think about it, the main reason you’re pursuing marketing on social media is to gain followers. But that's not enough anymore.

Growing your social media is just one part of the sales funnel.

It is the initial step in your online marketing effort.

The question I get asked all the time is “Sarah how do I actually close clients on social media?”

Every entrepreneur aims to crack the code on how to use social media to build their visibility, generate leads and close clients.

Social selling allows you to build a real connection with your social media followers in direct messenger and get them on a sales call.

But how do I start a conversation with my social media connections? Aka social sell?

Don’t hesitate to social sell because you “don’t know what to say”.

Here are five steps in turning a social media connection into a client:

1. Optimize your social media profile

Make it clear who you help and how on your profile. Establish your credibility and authority by sharing your story, experience, success stories, value tips etc. . It will be the determining factor if your ideal client decides to accept your connection request.

2. Grow your social media following.

Aim to add 300 ideal clients to your social media channel every single month. Once they become a connection this is where the fun starts.

3. Post weekly conversation-driven value content

Aim to post consistently weekly on your social media. Remember to tell a bunch of stories and add a lot of value! Ask questions to start conversations and get people. For example if you were a sales coach like me you could ask ‘ What do you do when a prospect says no?’ . Based on their answers you can start the direct messaging conversations.

4. Build rapport.

Build rapport in messenger and move them to a call with you. Send a message to your engaging social media followers daily about the post they engaged with followed by an open-ended question.  Your aim is to verify if they are ideal clients.

5. Move them onto a sales call.

When you are having a great conversation and you qualify them as an ideal client who is ready to solve their problem, ask them to go on a call to discuss how you can help them

This method can take time but is worth it!

The hard truth is that online business owners must ramp up their efforts and focus more on conversions, as this is the 'real' purpose of their social media marketing initiatives.

Plan your marketing strategy, provide enticing offers and calls to action, share stories with your fans, and encourage them to join in discussions.
